What is an Asset Management Plan?
An Asset Management Plan (AMP) is a strategic document that helps the Township of Black River-Matheson manage its infrastructure and physical assets—such as roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems, buildings, and parks—in a cost-effective, sustainable way.
The plan outlines:
-
What we own – an inventory of municipal assets and their current condition
-
What we need – the services those assets support and the community's expectations
-
How we maintain it – lifecycle strategies for repair, replacement, or upgrades
-
How we pay for it – funding strategies and financial planning for future needs
By using asset management planning, the Township ensures that public services are delivered reliably, risks are managed, and long-term costs are minimized. It supports informed decision-making, improves transparency, and helps protect the investments we’ve made in our community.
Asset management is not just about infrastructure—it’s about delivering value to residents now and for generations to come.
