Landfill Hours

BRM Residents are Permitted to Use the Landfills

All BRM residents are allowed to use the landfills. This includes those who own property, but do not reside here full time.

You may be required to show proof of residency to access the landfills. If your identification states residency that is not in BRM, but you own property, please come into the Municipal Office and ask for a card which will allow this access. This will need to be done on a yearly basis. 

How it Works

When using any of the sites, the attendant will be greeting you and requesting your name, address and what you are bringing to the site. The attendant is permitted to look through what you are dumping to ensure proper disposal of the materials in the correct location.

Disposal of Materials

All materials do NOT go in the garbage pit. There are specific areas that items need to be placed. Separate areas include steel and scrap metal, recycling, tires WITHOUT rims (Matheson site ONLY), electronics and CLEAN wood (if nails are removed from untreated lumber, this is considered clean wood). You are responsible to sort your materials brought to the site. Failure to do so may result in progressive action from the Township.

Fees

There are fees associated with the disposal of certain materials. Residents are permitted to dump up to 10 bags free of charge and can dispose of an unlimited amount of recyclable materials. Residents are also permitted to dispose of unlimited tires, as long as the rims are removed, as well as unlimited electronic waste free of charge.

Fees are associated with trailers, tandems, and white metals (which have to be tagged that freon has been removed). Tagging can be done where coolant units are maintained. 

Landfill Sites

With the continued work of the Township as well as the assistance from the community, the landfill sites will have optimal use and disposal space.

Please do your part and sort your materials before dumping.

PLEASE NOTE: Effective June 1st, 2023 - all tipping fees must be pre-paid at the Township Hall - attendants will not be accepting payments at the landfill sites.

All Fees are HST exempt

Every separate trailer attached to a vehicle is considered a separate load.

Construction/Domestic Waste
Midsize truck to 1 Ton Truck - $30.00/load
1 Ton - $40.00/load
Tandem Truck - $250.00/load
Larger than Tandem Truck - $290.00/load
Trailers up to 4'x8' (single axle)  $45.00/load
Trailers over 4'x8' (single axle)  $70.00/load
Trailers over 4'x8' (double axle)  $85.00/load
 

White Metals
Freon removed and tagged only. Includes washers, dryers, refrigerants, hot water tanks etc. $20.00/unit.
 

Scrap Metals 
Single items which are readily movable by one person without assistance  No Charge
Midsize truck up to 1 Ton Truck - $10.00/load
1 ton Truck up to Tandem - $25.00/load
Larger than Tandem - $40.00/load
Trailers up to 4'x8' (single axle)  $10.00/load
Trailers over 4'x8' (single axle)  $25.00/load
Trailers over 4'x8' (double axle)  $40.00/load

Tires
Rims removed.  No Charge

Yard Waste
includes trees, leaves, grass cuttings, etc. (clean and un-bagged)  No Charge

Insurance Claims
Tandem Truck  $500.00/load plus any associated costs
Larger than tandem  $850.00/load plus any associated costs
 

Non Hazardous Soil
Testing results in accordance to regulations must be submitted to the Municipality for review prior to dumping (a letter verifying material is deemed non-hazardous).

Barrel up to 1/2 Ton Truck - $75.00/load plus any associated costs
1/2 Ton to Tandem - $125/load plus any associated costs
Tandem Truck - $150.00/load plus any associated costs
Larger than Tandem Truck  -  $200.00/load plus any associated costs
Entry fee after hours (Director of Works and Operations' approval required)  $135 plus any associated costs

Propane Tanks are no longer accepted at any of the landfill sites.
